How much does a small business website cost in 2026?

TL;DR

DIY template: CZK 0–5,000 a year. A custom website for a sole trader: typically CZK 15,000–40,000. At TL;DR a website for freelancers comes to CZK 25,000 incl. VAT — with a custom design, SEO, analytics and deployment. On top of that, budget for a domain (~CZK 200/year) and hosting (CZK 0–1,500/year).

“How much will a website cost me?” is the first question almost every sole trader asks. The honest answer is: it depends. Not to hide the price — but because a CZK 3,000 website and a CZK 30,000 website solve completely different problems. Let us unpack what you are actually paying for.

Three price brackets

1. DIY template — CZK 0 to 5,000

Tools like Wix, Squarespace or WordPress with a template. You assemble the site yourself and mostly pay with your time plus an annual subscription. Good when you are still testing an idea and do not mind that the site looks like thousands of others. The downside: it tends to be slower, harder to rank in search, and customisation runs into the limits of the template.

2. Custom website — CZK 15,000 to 40,000

A site designed directly around your offer and your customers. You are paying for the design, for copy that sells, for speed and for an SEO foundation you can build on. This is where our web design sits — the freelancer package at CZK 25,000 incl. VAT covers up to 6 pages, responsive design, SEO, analytics and deployment.

3. Larger projects — CZK 40,000 and up

An e-shop, a booking system, a members' area, integrations with other tools. The price grows with the features. If you need something specific, we handle it as a custom website after a consultation.

What drives the price most

  • Scope — the number of pages and sections.
  • Copy and photos — do you have them, or should the supplier prepare them?
  • Features — is a form enough, or do you need orders and payments?
  • Custom design vs. template — an original costs more, but it works for your brand.

What not to forget in the budget

Besides the one-off build price, budget for a domain (roughly CZK 150–300 a year) and hosting (CZK 0–1,500 a year). For the fast static sites we build, running costs are low — and you do not have to pay for a heavy content management system that only slows things down.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a small business website cost?

A do-it-yourself template runs to CZK 0–5,000 a year; a custom website for a sole trader in the Czech Republic typically costs between CZK 15,000 and 40,000. TL;DR offers a website for freelancers at CZK 25,000 incl. VAT (up to 6 pages, custom design, SEO, analytics and deployment).

Are the domain and hosting included in the price?

A domain usually costs CZK 150–300 a year, hosting CZK 0–1,500 a year depending on the type of site. For static sites (the kind TL;DR builds) running costs are very low or nil. These items are paid every year separately from the one-off build price.

Why is a custom website more expensive than a template?

You are paying for a design made precisely for your offer, for speed, for a better SEO foundation and above all for the time you do not have to spend assembling a website yourself. A template is cheaper at the start but is often slower and harder to find in search.

Is a cheap website for a few thousand worth it?

If you only need to “be on the internet”, yes. If the site is meant to bring in enquiries, what decides is the quality of the copy, the speed and the structure — and that is exactly what cheap websites cut corners on.
